Supports Coordination Star of the Month

Michele Thomas

Michele Thomas has been a supports coordinator with MORC for 13 years and has devoted countless hours of her spare time obtaining needed clothing and supplies for low-income individuals served by MORC.  She collects coupons and uses them to buy deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other hygiene products for consumers living on their own or with family who are unable to afford these items. Michele also operates and organizes the clothes closet in Auburn Hills which provides donated and gently-used clothing for MORC consumers at no cost.

Supports Coordination Testimonials

"Michelle Nemeck went out of her way to make sure every one of our needs were met.  We have become very close and she would be the first person I call when I have a problem.  She always solves problems in a timely manner and is always sensitive to our feelings and privacy.  My daughter has been in the MORC system for over 20 years and we really appreciate all that they do for us."

--Linda Green, Parent

"We feel blessed to have been with MORC for many years.  During this time, each Supports Coordinator assigned to our daughter contributed unique talents to her job.  They go beyond "job requirements" and become an important part of our family.  Cheryl Gibson, our current Supports Coordinator, has helped us a great deal with a number of special problems like dental care and plans to manage or even prevent spend down.  Vicky, our daughter, looks forward to her regular special breakfast meetings with Cheryl.  It is so good to have someone who is always dependable and plans individually for her clients."

--Carol Vainer, Parent

"We are very thankful for you and MORC.  Without you guys, Emily would not have this opportunity to stretch, grow, become more independent and live outside her family home, a dream she has had and is very happy to have realized.  We appreciate all you have done and continue to do to help Emily and Celene live together."

--Debbie Penn, Parent

"Holly has been our case manager for approximately five years.  She is full of energy, smiles and hopes for the future.  Willing to go that extra mile, she treats each of our boys independently according to their level.  She is able to carry on conversations with each of our boys, even though some have no way of communicating.  They always enjoy Holly's visits.  They would even go home with her.  We wish everyone could have a case worker like Holly."

--The Wilber Family

"Lisa Rowinski has been my daughter's Case Manager for several years.  Lisa is the best Case Manager my daughter, Meredith has ever had.  We have experience with several case managers and while they all care and do their best, Lisa goes way beyond expectations.  For example, she has been learning American Sign Language to better communicate with her Deaf clients.  She also has set up several social activities for Meredith and even arranged a meeting with another Deaf client and they have become friends who now go to several events together by themselves with minimal supervision.  She is always proactive as an advocate for Meredith and creative in her solutions.  Her hard work, dedication and passion are obvious in her actions and I can only say that her clients, specifically my daughter, are lucky to have her."

--Mike Gelaude, Parent

"We couldn't be happier with our Supports Coordinator, Julie.  We were on a 1-3 goal plan to get my daughter independent and moved into her own little place and Julie got us there.  She got us to the right people to get other services we might need and she made it happen.  One of the main things I love about Julie is to watch her with my daughter.  She just listens to everything she has to say.  She really listens to her and what her goals and dreams are.  She doesn't treat you like a case number.  She always finds new opportunities and other special programs in art and music and is constantly looking out for things my daughter loves."

--Mary Bione, Parent

"Kathy and my lives have changed for the better since getting involved with MORC.  We had nothing before.  Our Supports Coordinator, Patty, was a Godsend.  A treasure.  She went beyond the call of duty to get us the help we needed.  One of the best people I've ever met."
