The Recreation Empowerment Committee (REC) is consumer-driven group that tackles the problem of inadequate recreational opportunities in the community for people with disabilities. The committee advises community agencies on how to make their recreational programs more accessible to individuals with disabilities and helps link individuals with disabilities to quality leisure activities in the community.

The REC is involved in many activities, including fundraisers; a Holiday Party; a Country Hoe-Down; the Arts, Beats & Eats festival; a Spring Dance, and as volunteers to the Special Olympics.
