Recreational Therapy

BenjaminMonkabaMORC believes that having opportunities to participate in quality, inclusive leisure activities is an important part of helping individuals with disabilities lead full and fulfilling lives.

MORC Therapeutic Recreation Specialists educate individuals with disabilities about the recreational opportunities available to them in the community and help match them with activities that meet their interests as well as help them realize the goals of their service plan.

A wide variety of recreational activities are available, including:

  • Art Classes
  • Music
  • Photography
  • Cooking
  • Swimming
  • Horseback Riding
  • Sewing
  • MORC Stars Hockey Team
  • MORC Choir
  • Quarterly special events

In addition to coordinating these activities, the Therapeutic Recreation Department also works to educate community recreation providers about the need to make their activiites more inclusive to individuals with disabilities and provides technical assistance to help them do it.
