MORC enables family members with disabilities to remain in
the family home by providing funding for in-home staff, respite
care, home modifications, adaptive equipment, parenting training,
shared parenting, and family counseling.
For individuals who do not live with their parents, there
are many home choices available:
Personal Residence:
People are assisted to live independently in apartments, condominiums,
or houses. Some people may choose to live with another person
with a disability or to be supported by a friend without a
disability or a family. A person may lease or own his or her
home and may not require 24-hour support.
Shared Lives:
A person with a developmental disability is coupled with a
person who does not have a disability. Together they live
in a house, condominium, or apartment. Oftentimes, the person
without a disability was the caregiver in a group home or
other setting for the person with a disability.
Home of My Own:
People are provided the opportunity to be homeowners. They
work in the community and pay their own mortgages. Some homeowners
are able to live by themselves, while others have roommates
who pay rent to help with expenses. Individuals receive various
levels of in-home support, depending upon need and eligibility.
Foster Care:
MORC foster families provide loving care to individuals wanting
a family home.
Group Homes:
MORC supports group homes serving six or fewer people. Each
home has 24-hour staff provided by a nonprofit agency.
