This introductory course guides learners through the history of human services and provides a review of current trends and best practices. Focus on the learner’s central role in providing supports in a variety of settings and the influence of values, attitudes, and beliefs in providing quality services. Understanding individuals with common developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and mental illnesses diagnosis. Principles of Trauma Informed Care and how to be a supportive element in the Person Centered Planning and Self-determination process are covered.
