Recipient Rights

Every person who receives mental health services has certain rights which are protected by the Michigan Mental Health Code. All caregivers, clinicians, and administrators must take and update this course based on the rules established by the funding CMH source. Here are some helpful sites, search “recipient rights training”

Cost: Free

Recipient Rights renewals are determined by the county of fiscal responsibility for the individual served.

For Macomb County, staff must renew their training every two years. Check Macomb County’s website for instructor-led training dates and times. Online updates are not accepted.

For Oakland County, staff must renew their training every year. Check the OCHN website for online training and testing options. Will accept online training as long as your previous training is not expired.

For Wayne County, staff must renew their training every year. As long as their training is not expired, staff can use Detroit-Wayne’s online Recipient Rights Training option through Detroit-Wayne Connect.
